Who We Are

Our Story

This business began in 1979 as a step of faith by Jerry and Kathy Rauch. Convinced that they were to use their passion for helping improve the lives of others, they determined to do so with old-fashioned values and a common sense approach to health and wellness.

They sold a small wooded tract of land Jerry had acquired before his marriage to Kathy, invested a portion of the monies in a large, old duplex located in the Bluffton, Indiana business district and retained a small amount to invest in fixtures and inventory. The Rauch family dedicated the front room of their residence side of the duplex to the venue for the small store. The other side of the duplex was rented out to tenants to help make the monthly mortgage payments.

Kathy operated the business out of their home for the first three months until she delivered their second child. At that time the business was doing well enough that Jerry quit his regular job and came home to run "the store", then known as Old-fashioned Goodness Natural Food Store.

Two years later, it was doing well enough to relocate to a local mini-mall. After two more expansions, the business, now known as A Harvest of Health Nutrition & Wellness Center, is positioned in a beautiful, large 1800's Victorian home listed on the National Historic Register (located in Bluffton's historic district). It is an appropriate venue that continues to represent the core values that we have never lost over the years. The nostalgic ambiance evokes feelings of long ago when life was slower, foods were healthier and friends were treated like family.

Mission & Philosophy

Our mission is to serve your nutrition and wellness needs by offering professional services, educational support, and highly effective products to help you achieve optimal health.

Whether your objective is to sleep better, have more energy, manage your weight, look and feel great, or address more serious health issues, we are here to provide an experience that can help change your life!

We adhere to the Universal Law of Sowing and Reaping, whereby the actions you choose determine the consequences you obtain. Therefore, it is our belief that the seeds of health you choose to sow regarding personal health care (lifestyle, dietary habits, attitudes, etc.,) help determine the kind of health you will harvest.

There is also an old adage that says, “You can give a person a fish and feed him for a day, or you can teach the person to fish and feed him for a lifetime." Some people choose to have others manage their health for them. At A Harvest of Health, we believe that you are ultimately in charge of your own health. Therefore, we equip you with the information and knowledge you need to make decisions that lead you to the quality of health you desire.
